Choosing a flight data API
It depends on what you are building. If you need live aircraft positions plus weather, NOTAMs and airport data, SkyLink API covers all of it on one key from $19/month, with ADS-B positions refreshed roughly every 5 seconds. If you only need schedule-grade flight status, a status-only API may be enough.
Several do, with very different limits. SkyLink offers a 1,000-request monthly free trial for personal, non-commercial projects; AviationStack, AeroDataBox and FlightAware have small free allowances; OpenSky Network is free for non-commercial research. Check each comparison page for the details that matter to your use case.
Most teams run SkyLink alongside their current provider for a few days, map the response fields using the API reference, then switch traffic over. Official SDKs for Python, Node.js and Go keep the integration small.
